Riverbank Restaurant

856 Grand Mira South Rd, Juniper Mountain
Our August outing took us to Grand Mira South to the Mira Cottages, just a bit of a drive out of town - let's let the photographs tell the story.

The restaurant is situated on the grounds of a complex that includes several cottages. They were all occupied on the evening of our outing.

In fact, the cottages were full, the parking lot was full and the restaurant was almost full!

We do recommend making reservations.

The front of the restaurant featured the most beautiful flower displays, some in hanging baskets and some in large pots. There was cut wood stacked along the walls of the restaurant, making for a very cozy and aromatic entrance.

We were greeted at the door by this display of the menu...do you see the gentleman on the poster?

We're going to see him later!

There are German dishes on offer, as well as Canadian selections, and beer and wine.

And we were lucky enough to be dining on a Friday night, which we discovered is BBQ Night!

Lucky us!

So now that we've been swept away by the outside of the complex, what does the inside look like?

We all took a moment to walk through the two dining rooms to the back of the building. Not only is this a beautiful building but the smell of the wood everywhere is heavenly.

The service was excellent all evening. We received a tall pitcher of ice water first (complete with a bandana around the neck of the bottle), followed by this bread basket.

One of the comments made was "I could make a meal on this bread"...yes, it was that good.

One of the members ordered this German dish, a Geschnetzettes (sliced pork in a white wine sauce with mushrooms) with a shredded potato cake and fresh vegetables.

How was it?

Perfect!

She was "full up to here."

The rest of us all ordered items from the BBQ- Menu.

And this takes us to the Man on the Poster, who did, in fact, barbeque all of the meat selections on a wood-fired pit.

Just imagine how good that tasted!

Our barbequed selections included:
Bacon-wrapped Pork Loin Medallion with Roasted Potatoes & Vegetables
Bacon-wrapped Pork Loin Medallion with BBQ Beans & Roasted Potatoes (that's Garlic Butter)
Prime Rib Steak with BBQ Beans & French Fries (that's Garlic Butter)
All evening, our cups were refilled with the most delicious tea and coffee:

Well, everything had been so lovely that we couldn't possibly say "No" to dessert.
Apple Crisp A La Mode
Strawberry-Rhubarb Crumble A La Mode
The one word that kept being repeated all evening was "Perfect" - everything was just perfect. From the location on the Mira, to the grounds, to the dining room, to the service, and most of all, to the food. It was perfect from beginning to end. What a wonderful way to end off our summer!
