Italian Buffet at the Polish Hall, Whitney Pier

We're Back at the Polish Hall!
Last year's UAG outing to the Polish Hall in Whitney Pier for the St. Michael's Parish Italian supper was such a success that we went back again this year.  However, the UAG has grown since last year - believe it or not -there were 16 of us and we took up two full tables.

The buffet was opened to the sold-out crowd after a lovely blessing by the same MC who hosted the event last year. And the buffet? Well, it was also exactly the same as last year - the food was fabulous and there was plenty of it.  We did discover this year that the dish with the "weiners in dark sauce" was, in fact, sausages in a honey/garlic sauce. Heavenly! UAG members made comments such as "Loved the variety!", "Can't wait until next year!", "Absolutely amazing!", "Great experience!" and "I need a post feeding frenzy nap."

There was lots of food for everyone again this year and people were encouraged to take a plate home with them. And while we were enjoying our meals, we were once again serenaded by an accordion player. There's something about a glass of wine, good food, and sentimental tunes that makes the world outside just fade away.

Self-service tea & coffee. That's an eclair in the background.
We don't normally take photographs inside community events, but we did want to show you the tea service. Excellent tea!

Dessert was a white cake with a boiled icing - pieces were cut and placed on plates so that people could help themselves. And, again this year - Praise the Lord - the Ladies served us home-made chocolate eclairs.

So yes, we had two desserts!

And, just as we did last May, we made our way up the hill to Memorial Junior High to visit the Pierscape Art Show.  What a show! There were paintings of all formats and subjects, needlework, pen & ink drawings, mixed media, quilting, and clay works, with prices that ranged from a couple of ten dollar bills to ones that, well, were priced much higher than that. It was difficult to pick a favourite piece; it was a joy to walk around the hall.

And once again, we walked out of the Art Show into a cool evening, so happy to have been part of Whitney Pier's festivities.  The food, the company and the art were all wonderful. Another successful UAG adventure!
